Giving

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

The Bible teaches that God’s people should give proportionately and regularly to support the ministry of the local church where they are members.

Mal 3:10 NLT “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put Me to the test!”

2 Cor 9:6-8 NLT “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”

CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING 3 LEVELS OF BIBLICAL GIVING:

1. Tithes (proportional & regular giving)

2. Offerings (additional freewill giving), and then there are…

3. Extravagant Offerings (when we are moved to give over and above what we have already given, e.g. to meet a specific need), e.g. John 12:1-8 NLT “Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus—the man he had raised from the dead. A dinner was prepared in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him. Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance.

But Judas Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray him, said, “That perfume was worth a year’s wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor.” Not that he cared for the poor—he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples’ money, he often stole some for himself. Jesus replied, “Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”

Please make sure to identify your giving as: “Tithes” or “Offering” or “Missions” or your specific designation, so that we can assign your giving to the correct account/ministry.

2 Cor 9:10-11 NLT “God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous.”

Thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord and to His house. May you receive and enjoy His blessing.
